MHCB Board of Directors Meeting (virtual)

  1. Discussion on next steps for the band re: COVID-19
    1. Social Distancing:
      1. Option A: Location? Possibly Colorado Christian University? If limited to 10 or less, maybe just do sectional rehearsal if people are willing to travel.
      2. Is virtual concert an option? Cristina said that Sarah Mount has a resource that could piece a virtual concert together.
        1. Brian suggested smaller groups as an option.
        2. We need income for ensemble music. Barb suggested Tim had access to sheet music for the brass quintet.
        3. Currently we do not have access to our music at Golden Music.
      3. How do we keep connected during this time?
        1. Who is willing to travel to a place to have a jam session or play in a smaller group rehearsal?
        2. Brian suggested having board members just split up the band and check in with other members to try to keep the band together.

  3. Chamber style music option?
  • Send out a survey with these ideas before we make any decisions.
  • Possibly record mini sessions and putting online just to show the community we are still here.

  2. Need another reminder email about fundraising from King Soopers and Amazon Smile.
  3. Need to continue to brainstorm how to stay connected.
  4. Scholarships:
    1. Do we revisit this once we are back together? Have applicants resubmit applications.
  5. Funds:
    1. If we are meeting virtually or in smaller groups have a smaller “suggested donation”.
    2. Do we pay directors?
    3. If we don’t come back together in the Fall, maybe offer an option for members to keep their dues as a donation to the band or roll over to next year or offering a refund.
  6. Music:
    1. Storage continues to be an issue because we cannot access it as we would like
    2. We may need to consider an alternate storage solution.
    3. If we go digital, we need to be mindful of copyright laws.
  7. Santa Fe:
    1. Need to follow up on future plans
